Today started out a bit rough. Allergies had me waking up with puffy eyes and feeling less than rested. I worked in our home office for the first hour, but the clutter was getting to me. The only thing worse than clutter is clutter that does not belong to me, so I do not know how to go about putting it away. Where are these things supposed to go? I have been transplanted recently into my husband's house. It is a nice house, but it is quite full of HIS things, so all that I have moved thus far is my clothing. I am trying to be a trouper, as I know that this is temporary. It seems when other things begin to stress me, I start to notice my unfamiliar surroundings.. and it makes me a little sad. All of my beautiful things and none of them are here. I should mention that my grandfather is in the hospital and the rollercoaster that my family has been on for the past 4 weeks has me on edge. Add in that I gained 2 stress pounds and I am a hot mess. So, I skipped the gym (which I should not have considering the 2 lbs) and the hubby and I had a dinner date and a little retail therapy. In comes the purple basket. For the past 6 weeks, since I moved in, my beauty products have been scattered across the bathroom counter. His cabinets were full, as he keeps everything (he has bandaids from the '80's). So, after dinner we hit Homegoods and I purchased a lovely purple basket. We came home and he made room for it under the counter. Its so pretty and THE ONLY THING in this house that looks like me, so right now it is on top of the counter. I am comforted to know that he made room for it, but right now just having it in my view is making this strange place feel a bit more like home. I know that I won't feel truly at home until we buy a house together in a more geographically desirable area, but the purple basket will keep me company in the meantime.
